I never went on NBC. They stole my work and told lies about me. I didn't ask them to prosecute my enemies. They did it themselves to try to cut my writing short before I exposed too much of their fraud. Now I'm getting fed up with the way they are always tampering with my image. What impression did you get of me from watching Dateline? Sounds like they spoke to people from a town I lived in thirty years ago and people from a job I only held for twenty-four hours. What about the other thirty years of my life: the other miserable, thankless thirty years which gave rise to all that music and laughter? Am I supposed to cover that myself? If I were a TV viewer, I'd be mad as Hell at the networks for insulting my intelligence as they try to get at my wallet. Who wrote the songs? I did. Who wrote the laughs? I did. And what's their story? I'm a bum because they stole my work. Do I have this straight? They take an old song from me and show off with it and then they try to say I owe my success to their arrogance when they are caught. Yeah, that's some success! You should see the girls in the library just panting! Are they going to try to make another movie now? They don't ever give up trying to do the wrong thing: glorifying my enemies, calling me names, taking payment for my work... As I carry on with new music and laughs which are beyond the capabilities of my detractors, I hope to reward my true fans for their faith in the face of such overwhelming, commercially sponsored dishonesty. |
